When Saturday, August 20
Where Noelridge Park
Time 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (no games during 11:00-noon lunch break)
What is it?
Kicking for a Cause is a kickball tournament to raise funds to build wells in Africa. Up to 20 teams will compete in a double-elimination tournament on Saturday August 20 at Noelridge Park. Kickball itself is a lot of fun, but we have a bigger purpose in mind than just having a good time.
Why are we doing this?
It’s so easy for us to take clean and safe water for granted. When we need water for drinking, cooking, bathing, or cleaning, we simply turn on the faucet. Americans on average use 80-100 gallons of water per day. Though water is regularly available to us, many people go with little or no water daily. Nearly one billion people suffer needlessly without access to safe water.
This lack of safe and clean water is devastating. 200 children die every minute from water-borne diseases. In Africa alone people spend 40 billion hours every year just walking for water. Women and children usually bear the burden of water collection, walking miles to the nearest source, which is often shared with animals and likely to make them sick. These realities are tragic and may seem overwhelming. However, we can make a difference and truly save lives.
With your help we can impact a small village for a lifetime. We will be partnering with Water4 Foundation to help build wells in Africa, giving the transformative gift of clean and safe water. Go to http://water4.org/ to learn more.
