This is a ministry of Encounter Christian Church. Father’s Heart Int. is a faith-based non-profit organized to seek funds for and support Christian refugees living here in the United States. Our focus in on education, employment and Evangelism.
FHI is a great place for members of Encounter Christian Church to get involved volunteering to help the less fortunate. The U.S. State Dept. brings roughly 75,000 refugees to America each year seeking political or religious asylum.
Many of these refugees are Christians already and therefore our brothers and sisters in Christ. However with little or no English background, being settled in low-income housing by the government and in a totally new culture they are very vulnerable people.
In Iowa particularly there is need for the church to be active in refugee work because The State of Iowa/Bureau of Refugee Services was recently closed. This has left many refugees without the support they need to find jobs, community resources and help with health care.

Aid to Women has been serving women and their families in the greater Cedar Rapids, Iowa area since 1983. They are committed to providing women and their families with opportunities to grow and make healthy, informed decisions. All of their services are free and confidential.
